Fulham chief confirms Fabio Carvalho to Liverpool transfer despite star's comments

Fulham chief Tony Khan has revealed that Fabio Carvalho has agreed to join Liverpool - contrary to the player's own comments.

The Cottagers ace has been heavily linked with a move to the Anfield this summer after a move in January fell through. A deal was in place on deadline day but time ran out before completion.

Carvalho will see his contract expire at the end of the season and will be free to leave Fulham this summer - though the club will receive a small fee via tribunal should he depart. That is despite being a mainstay in Marco Silva's side this season.

The west London outfit are back in the Premier League at the first time of asking after a sensational campaign where they have blown the rest of the division away to breach 100 points. And Carvalho played a large role, becoming a key part of the squad.

In 35 Championship appearances, the 19-year-old has scored 10 and assisted eight but it is his flair and technique that has alerted some of the big clubs. And while Liverpool appear to have won the race for the Portuguese ace, the player has insisted that no such transfer has been agreed.

That is despite Fulham director of football Khan confirming a move away, saying: “I really like Fabio. He’s a player we have always rated, coming out of the academy, and we would have loved to have kept him. But we have made a deal that is best for the club and, since that agreement, it’s worked out wonderfully because he has been such a valuable part of the promotion.

“Marco has done a great job with him. They have a great relationship and Fabio has been tremendous for us. He’s a huge part of the squad and it’s a massive loss but, because we have done good business, we can do good business to make sure we are strong in that position.”

Carvalho, though, has insisted that he is yet to make a decision on his future. He said: "We'll see what happens at the end of the season.

"I'm not going to say I'm going to miss them because we don't know what's going to happen. We don't know what's going to happen, so we'll see. The club's going to be where it belongs, which is the Premier League, and we'll see what happens. I'm just so proud of everyone, from the coaches, the staff, the players, the kit men. We'll just see what happens next year."
