The Federal Trade Commission has announced it is sending more than $23.8 million in refunds to drivers and diners who were harmed by Grubhub’s deceptive advertising claims and other unlawful conduct, according to an official agency announcement dated August 12, 2026.

Why Grubhub Drivers and Diners Are Getting Refunds

The payments are part of the FTC’s refund program, which returns money to consumers and workers affected by companies found to have violated federal consumer protection laws. The agency’s action targets harm caused to two groups: diners who used the Grubhub food delivery platform and drivers who worked for the company.

More Than 640,000 People Are Receiving Payments

The FTC is sending payments to 640,038 affected drivers and diners. Most recipients will receive a check, which must be cashed within 90 days. People receiving refunds through PayPal have 30 days to redeem their payments.

For people over 50 who may have used Grubhub as diners or who worked as delivery drivers for the platform, this announcement may be relevant if they were affected by the company’s practices. The FTC’s refund program typically involves the agency identifying eligible recipients and sending payments directly to them.

Readers who believe they may be eligible for a refund or want to learn more about this specific case and how payments are being distributed should visit the FTC’s official website at ftc.gov or contact the agency directly to verify their individual eligibility and circumstances. Consumers with payment questions can contact refund administrator Analytics Consulting LLC at 1-888-446-4992. Also, to protect yourself, keep in mind that the agency will never require someone to pay money or provide account information to receive their refund.
