Sudan: RSF paramilitaries attack hospital in El Fasher, Doctors Without Borders says

Medics from international aid group Doctors Without Borders who were working at the main hospital in the besieged Darfur city of El Fasher say the facility has had to close after attacks from RSF fighters. The paramilitary group on one side of the brutal conflict engulfing Sudan reportedly raided the site on Sunday, opening fire on staff and patients.

Also, South Africa's president will be elected by parliament on June 14. To date, negotiations for a government of national unity led by Cyril Ramaphosa are ongoing and continue. But as time passes, some are asking for a mediator to step in.

For the African Union, 2024 is the year of education. But for too many places on the continent, access to learning has become fraught and uncertain. Beyond the disruption caused by political violence or armed conflict, the effects of climate change are also taking their toll on children’s education. These include the destruction of learning infrastructure, community displacement and a drop in income due to agricultural damage caused by floods or drought.
