Frustration and disappointment as Legoland Discovery refuse teen entry

Lego enthusiast Ethan Wheale was left disappointed and upset after being refused entry into Birmingham's Legoland Discovery Centre despite having a Merlin Annual Pass.

The 18-year-old has Down's Syndrome, plays with Lego every day and loves building walls, according to his father, Gordon Wheale. Gordon added that the teenager has a mental age of about six years old and is diagnosed with Down's Syndrome and ADHD, reported Birmingham Live. However, Legoland Discovery Centre has said the policy not to allow groups in without a child is "in place to create a safe and welcoming space for small children and their carers".

The trip began as a treat. Ethan's aunt had arranged to take him to the attraction on Tuesday, August 9. The rest of his family went on a day out to Harry Potter World but this wasn't of interest to Ethan. Gordon from Whittington near Lichfield, explained: "My wife organised for her to take my eldest son and daughter and their two cousins to Harry Potter World. My middle son who has Down's Syndrome wasn't interested so he was going to go to Legoland in Birmingham which he enjoys and has been to numerous times."
