A number of residents will be protesting against Dublin Bus' recent decision to divert a busy route.
The public transport services announced that the 123 route will be diverting away from Galtymore Road and down Mourne Road in Drimnagh because of traffic congestion. As a result, frustrated Dubliners will be taking to the streets to protest the change on Sunday and Monday mornings.
Sinn Fein's Ballyfermot-Drimnagh Councillor Daithi Doolan said: "Residents in Drimnagh are feeling very frustrated by the Dublin Bus decision. Residents feel they have no option but to protest at 9am tomorrow and again on Monday 9am. The protest will involve blocking the buses going down Mourne Road in an attempt to get Dublin Bus to reverse the decision.

He added: "I have spoken with the NBRU and emphasised that the protest is not aimed at the drivers. Residents fully appreciate they provide a great service to the public. In fact, the union confirmed they too have been raising this issue of traffic congestion with management since 2022. Unfortunately, no action has been taken."
Cllr Doolan said: "I have also contacted Dublin Bus area manager appealing to him to reverse the kneejerk decision to divert the bus down Mourne Road. I have urged Dublin Bus to engage directly with Dublin City Council, Gardaí and residents in an attempt to resolve this situation as a matter of urgency."
