John Madden’s legacy lives on after the legendary coach and longtime TV analyst died nearly a year ago.
On Thanksgiving, a holiday Madden loved, the NFL is making sure to honor him.
During the 2022 games on Turkey Day, you’ll see Madden’s face everywhere. You’ll see a John Madden Thanksgiving logo at the 25-yard lines of every home field on Thursday, and there will be Madden decals on each player’s helmet.
There’s more, per the NFL: “The inaugural ‘John Madden Thanksgiving Celebration’ on Thursday, Nov. 24 will feature special broadcast tributes as CBS, FOX and NBC will create their own segments dedicated to the football legend. These tributes will be interspersed throughout the broadcast of each game (Bills vs. Lions at 12:30 p.m. ET on CBS, Giants vs. Cowboys at 4:30 p.m. ET on FOX and Patriots vs. Vikings at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC). A recording of Madden — who called 20 Thanksgiving Day NFL games during his broadcasting career — discussing Thanksgiving and the holiday’s special relationship to football will also serve as the lead-in to each of three games.”
