Jonas Vingegaard started the 2026 Giro d'Italia as the outstanding favourite for what is his debut at La Bella Corsa, and the Dane remains very much in pole position.

That isn't to say he will have things all his own way. Even without Carapaz and Almeida, Vingegaard will find some keen competition from riders a strong Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe contingent.
