From bus stop to garden shed: one Canberra shelter's epic journey

Despite the recent heritage listing of Canberra's iconic concrete bunker-style bus shelters designed by Clem Cummings, plenty of love continues to flow for their equally cherished predecessors - the last of our near-century-old timber bus shelters.

Several readers, including Jane Roberts of Kaleen, have praised the old shelters for actually providing shelter, unlike some newer examples, like those at the revamped Woden Bus Interchange. For John McIntyre of Bruce, however, the timber shelter on Condamine Street, Turner, was much more than somewhere to escape the elements while waiting for the school bus.
