The Carabao Cup first round continues on Friday with Middlesbrough’s clash against Championship rivals Wrexham taking centre stage.
In The Hundred, Birmingham Phoenix host Sunrisers Leeds in the men’s and women’s competitions.
A top-of-the-table meeting between Wakefield Trinity and Leeds Rhinos headlines Friday’s Betfred Super League fixtures, while there is further action in the Canadian Open and Tour de France Women.

Carabao Cup continues
The Carabao Cup first round continues on Friday night with three ties taking place.
An all-Championship clash between Middlesbrough and Wrexham headlines the trio, with coverage starting on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football from 1900 and on ITV1 from 1930.
Sky Sports + will be showing two other fixtures from 1945, with Wolves hosting Port Vale and Wycombe taking on fellow League One side Stevenage.
The Scottish Championship also continues on Friday as Livingston look to continue their winning start to life back in the league with a clash against Partick Thistle, who also won their opening game at the weekend. BBC Scotland are showing the contest from 1930.
Can the Phoenix rise?
There is further action in The Hundred with Birmingham Phoenix hosting Sunrisers Leeds in the men’s and women’s competitions at Edgbaston.
Phoenix Women only have one win from five outings in the tournament so far and they come up against a Sunrisers team who beat London Spirit on Tuesday for their second success this season.
Phoenix are bottom of the men’s table with a sole victory which came against Trent Rockets in their opening game of the competition and Sunrisers will be searching for back-to-back triumphs following their win over London Spirit earlier in the week.
Coverage of Phoenix Women against Sunrisers takes place on Sky Sports Cricket at 1445 and Sky Sports Main Event at 1500, with the men’s match following on Sky Sports Cricket at 1800.
What else is happening on Friday?
A top-of-the-table clash takes place in the Betfred Super League as second-placed Wakefield Trinity host leaders Leeds Rhinos on Sky Sports Action from 1930.
Sky Sports + are showing the rest of Friday’s Super League bill from 2000 as Castleford Tigers take on Hull KR and York Knights travel to Leigh Leopards.
Coverage of the Canadian Open continues on Sky Sports Tennis from 1600 and Sky Sports Main Event at 2300.
There is PGA Tour action with the Wyndham Championship taking place on Sky Sports Golf at 1145 and 1800.
In the Ladies European Tour, the PIF London Championship will be shown on Sky Sports Golf from 1400.
Stage seven of the Tour de France Women also takes place and TNT Sports 1 will be showing the action from Friday’s route taking place between La Voulte-sur-Rhone and Mont Ventoux from 1415.
On this day in history
1926: The first British Grand Prix was staged at Brooklands. Known as the RAC Grand Prix, the race was won by Robert Senechal and Louis Wagner, driving their Delage at an average speed of 71.61 miles per hour.
2012: On a bumper day for Great Britain at the London Olympics, Chris Hoy won gold in the men’s keirin, his second triumph of the Games and his sixth Olympic gold overall. There were also golds for Alistair Brownlee (men’s triathlon), Laura Bechtolsheimer, Charlotte Dujardin and Carl Hester (team dressage) and Laura Trott (women’s omnium), while Victoria Pendleton was a silver medallist in the women’s sprint.
2021: Great Britain’s Galal Yafai claimed Olympic boxing gold with victory over the Philippines’ Carlo Paalam in the men’s flyweight final in Tokyo. Team GB also enjoyed success with Joe Choong in the modern pentathlon.
2022: Erling Haaland scored his first Manchester City goals with a brace in a 2-0 Premier League win over West Ham.
