A formation of US fighter jets tore through the skies of Fife today and sent local residents into a social media frenzy.
The formation of approximately five or six airplanes was spotted in the skies at lunchtime on Friday, with dozens of social media users posting pictures and videos.
Data from tracking website FlightRadar24 revealed that one of the planes was a Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker heading out to the Atlantic Ocean from RAF Mildenhall .

Top Scots private school teacher jailed over sordid sex affair with young female pupil
A teacher at a top private school who had a sexual relationship with a pupil has been jailed for 27 months.
Nicola Park, 42, got close to the girl for more than two years as her own marriage fell apart, a court was told.
The then 15-year-old had initially spoken to Park as she struggled with a personal issue.

Tesco and Aldi issue warning to shoppers who buy their fruit and vegetables
Supermarket chains Aldi and Tesco have issued an urgent warning to all of their shoppers who purchase any fruit and veg from their shelves.
The two popular grocers have advised shoppers to wash their fruit and veg after they are purchased due to potential contamination concerns.
It comes as the Saharan Desert dust cloud swept across the Mediterranean earlier this month, leading Spanish authorities to issue "extremely poor air quality ratings" for a large band of the country.

Scots serial killer Peter Tobin has been rushed to hospital after falling ill behind bars at HMP Edinburgh.
The 75-year-old remains under the care of medics after being taken in for treatment earlier this week.
