Now, the issue has resurfaced, propelled by the chancellor, Rachel Reeves, who has thrown her weight behind the project on pro-business grounds, brushing aside widespread climate concerns. Speaking at the World Economic Forum, Reeves declared: “When we say that growth is the number one mission of this government, we mean it, and that means it trumps other things.”
