Fresh support offered for ACT renters at risk of homelessness

Renters at risk of becoming homeless will be able to access a one-off grant worth up to $2500 to pay four weeks' rent as part of a refreshed program for people facing hardship in the ACT.

Applications to the new $5.2 million housing crisis support fund will open next week, with at-risk renters also eligible for $250 payments to cover utilities, insurance and basic furnishings.

Newly housed tenants in public housing will also receive a $250 payment in 2026-27, the government said.
