Fresh curling drama erupts ahead of Winter Paralympics

  • Two curling stones designated for the inaugural mixed doubles wheelchair competition have been stolen from the Cortina Curling Olympic Stadium.
  • The theft occurred just hours before the preliminary rounds of the Winter Paralympics were set to begin.
  • World Curling confirmed the incident, stating that local authorities are investigating, and spare stones will be used to ensure the competition proceeds.
  • The British duo, Jo Butterfield and Jason Kean, were informed but their participation against Estonia was unaffected.
  • This incident follows recent allegations of cheating in curling during last month's Winter Olympics, where Canadian curlers were accused of double-touching stones.
