New weekly Covid infections have dropped by more than 2,000 cases in the Liverpool City Region.
According to the latest data from Public Health England, in the Liverpool City Region there were 4,247 cases in the week ending April 15 as a whole. That's , 2,171 fewer cases than in the previous seven days.

It also meant the week-on-week percentage change figure fell by 34% in the Liverpool City Region.
Infections have dropped in each area of the city region. The week-on-week percentage change figure falls were: 35% in Knowsley; 33% in Liverpool; 31% in Halton; 36% in St Helens; 28% in Sefton; 39% in Wirral.
There were also drops in West Lancs, Warrington, and Cheshire West and Cheshire.
In England overall, there were 168,666 cases in the week ending April 15. That's , 79,318 fewer cases than week before, meaning there was a week-on-week percentage change figure fall of 32% in England.
Liverpool
Liverpool's positive tests came to 1,148 cases in the week ending April 15, which is 576 fewer cases than the previous week. This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure dropped by 33%. The latest infection rate was 229.4 cases per 100,000 people.
Wirral
Wirral's positive tests came to 931 cases in the week ending April 15, which is 582 fewer cases than in the previous seven days. This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure dropped by 39%. The latest infection rate was 287.0 cases per 100,000 people.
Halton
There were 373 positive tests over the last week - that's 169 fewer cases than in the previous week. This means the week-on-week percentage change figure fell by 31% in Halton in the week ending April 15. The latest infection rate is 287.5 cases per 100,000 people.
St Helens
There was a total of 502 cases in the week ending April 15, which is 285 fewer cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate in St Helens is 277.2 cases per 100,000 people and the week-on-week percentage change figure fell by 36%.
Knowsley
There was a total of 401 cases in the week ending April 15, which is 212 fewer cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate in Knowsley is 263.0 cases per 100,000 people and the week-on-week percentage change figure fell by 35%.
Sefton
Sefton had a total of 892 cases in the week ending April 15, which is a 347 fewer cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate is 323.3 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases dropped by 28% week on week.
Liverpool City Region
There were 4,247 positive tests over in the week ending April 15, which is 2,171 fewer cases than in the previous week. This means the week-on-week percentage change dropped by 34%. The latest infection rate is 249.42 cases per 100,000 people.
Warrington
There were 684 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending April 15, which is 343 fewer cases than the previous week. The week-on-week percentage figure fell by 33%. There was an infection rate of 326.65 per 100,000 people.
Cheshire West and Chester
There were 1,202 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending April 15, which is 529 fewer cases than the previous week. The latest infection rate is 349.60 cases per 100,000 people, and the week-on-week percentage fell by 31% in cases.
West Lancs
There were 348 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending April 15, which is 79 fewer cases than the previous week. The latest infection rate in West Lancs is 303.94 cases per 100,000 people, and the week-on-week percentage fell by 19% in cases.
England
In the week ending April 15, England recorded 168,666 coronavirus cases, which is 79,318 fewer cases than in the previous seven days. The week-on-week percentage dropped by 32% in England, and there was an infection rate of 298.26 per 100,000 people.
