French producer David Thion, known for his work on Justine Triet's acclaimed film 'Anatomy of a Fall,' is gearing up for a series of projects led by bold female directors. Thion, along with Marie-Ange Luciani, who co-produced 'Anatomy of a Fall,' has enlisted Triet for her next movie, the details of which are yet to be finalized.
Thion revealed that Triet's upcoming film is likely to be predominantly in French but may feature an Anglo-Saxon actress in the lead role. Additionally, Charline Bourgeois-Tacquet, the director behind 'Anais in Love,' is set to collaborate with Thion on her next project titled 'La vie d'une femme,' which will delve into the life of a female surgeon in her 50s to 60s.
The narrative will explore the challenges faced by the protagonist, Gabrielle, as she navigates a demanding career in a male-dominated field while striving for a fulfilling personal life. Drawing inspiration from real-life surgeon Chloe Bertolus, the film aims to authentically portray the complexities of her profession.
Thion's roster also includes Emily Atef's English-language debut 'Mercy,' based on Lara Santoro's novel, which centers on the bond between an American war correspondent and a local woman in Kenya during the AIDS crisis in 1999. The producer emphasized the importance of shedding light on women's voices in Africa.
Among the projects in post-production is Christophe Honoré's 'Marcello Mio,' featuring a stellar cast including Chiara Mastroianni and Catherine Deneuve. Thion is also backing Karim Moussaoui's 'The Vanishing,' a poignant tale of a young Algerian man's struggle with familial expectations.
Furthermore, Thion is involved in Guillaume Senez's 'A Missing Part,' a Tokyo-set drama starring Romain Duris, and 'Mon inseparable,' a mother-son story directed by Anne-Sophie Bailly. These films underscore Thion's commitment to supporting diverse narratives and emerging talents in the film industry.
