French Connection has become the first major UK clothing brand to launch a rental service on its own website. Brand new pieces, including dresses, skirts, tops and jackets, are being made available to hire.
Items will be offered to rent for four, 10 or 15 days, and there is no need to take out a subscription. The collection has a retail selling price between £45-£205, with items being available to rent for as little as £10, the Manchester Evening News reports.
French Connection Rental's website is now live. Its guide explaining how the service works says: "Once you have found something you love, select your size, rental period and delivery date then add to bag.
"We recommend booking your delivery to arrive two days before your event. You can also choose to add damage cover to any of your items before proceeding to checkout, this will cover you against any accidental damages.
"At checkout tell us where to ship the outfits and enter payment details. Please note, we charge a rental fee of £6 for every unique delivery date in your order; for multiple items with the same delivery date will only be charged this fee once."
It continues: "When your outfits arrive please try them on - keeping the ribbon in place. Only remove the ribbon once you have decided to wear the outfit for your event.
"Once you have worn your outfits please place them in the returns bag and stick the enclosed postage label to the front. You don’t need to wash any of your items - we take care of that.
"Please ensure that your return has been dropped off at the Post Office before midday on your designated return date. Please ensure to keep your proof of postage receipt."
The service is powered by Zoa Rental, the sister platform of Hirestreet, which previously made French Connection collections available for hire on its own multi-brand site, Retail Gazette reports.
French Connection’s retail director Simon Donoghue said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Zoa to bring premium high street to the hire customer and support the ever-growing appetite of hiring. We’re really excited to showcase our product to this audience and be at the forefront of this movement.”
