The hellish Alligator Alcatraz concentration camp has become a powerful symbol of the Trump administration’s cruelty. Located deep within the Florida Everglades, the jail is intentionally designed to torture those imprisoned there, who face brutal and unsafe living conditions while kept inside metal cages.
Even by Trump standards, it’s considered a stain on America’s reputation, and many on both sides of the aisle breathed a sigh of relief when federal court judge Kathleen Williams ordered that it be closed and dismantled within 60 days on the basis that it’s “causing severe and irreparable damage to the fragile Florida Everglades” ecosystem.
