Three Americans who were recently freed and landed at Joint Base Andrews near Washington, DC, on Thursday evening are now en route to Texas for medical evaluation. The plane carrying the individuals departed Joint Base Andrews at approximately 1:20 a.m. ET, as confirmed by a State Department official.
The group includes a former US Marine, a reporter, and a Russian-American journalist, along with some of their family members and State Department personnel. The flight is expected to last about three hours and will land in San Antonio, Texas.
Upon arrival, the three Americans will be taken to Brooke Army Medical Center for medical evaluation and care, according to a US official. These evaluations are standard procedure for wrongfully detained Americans returning home, as previously reported in the case of Brittney Griner.
