Those looking to stock up on their firewood to light their chimeneas and fire pits this summer are in luck as North Ayrshire Council announces their free wood giveaway.
Residents will be able to collect a share of free wood logs and wood chips from the former Dreghorn Recycling Centre on Wednesday, August 10 between 10am and 2pm, and Thursday, August 11, between 5pm and 8pm.
Councillor Scott Davidson, cabinet member for place, said: “This wood giveaway is a great opportunity for residents.
“By reusing the wood our Streetscene team has collected as part of their everyday work duties, we are minimising our environmental impact by using it to stage a worthwhile community event.
“It is very much part of our Council commitment to sustainability. I would encourage all those who could make use of the wood to head along and grab a share.”
Wood supplies are limited and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. In the interest of fairness, there will be limits to the quantity of wood collected per person.
Keep in mind you must bring your own bags or storage boxes.
And council officers will be on site throughout the day and will require to see proof of North Ayrshire residency, such as a driver’s licence or utility bill, before allowing entry.
