Michael Maguire is confident the Wests Tigers' attack will improve as they face a crucial month that may define their NRL season.
Stuck at 0-3 and with Maguire already under pressure, the Tigers have Gold Coast, Cronulla, Parramatta and South Sydney in the next four weeks.
Only Manly and Canterbury have averaged less points per game than the joint-venture, who could finish the round in last place if the Sea Eagles win on Sunday night.
But after a flat and lacklustre day against Newcastle last Sunday, there was reason for hope in their attack during Friday's 16-12 loss against the Warriors.
Halfback Luke Brooks ran the ball eight times for 71 metres, as he put two players through holes for linebreaks.
Oliver Gildart also received plenty of early ball at left centre, twice breaking through the line in play that should have gifted them more than the one try it did.
If anything, it was simply the Tigers' polish that was missing as they bombed one chance over the line, had another one controversially denied and failed to complete late.
It comes after Jackson Hastings had called for the Tigers to play with less structure last week, before he was banned for three games out of that loss.
That has also been a message from Maguire this year, wanting his team to shift the ball around more with Brooks also comfortable running more often.
"A lot of heat was put on us last week (against Newcastle). But we made 20 or so errors," Maguire said.
"So you don't get to do the things you'd like to if you put pressure on yourself.
"I said at the start of the season, we're going to change our style and we're going to have a different way of playing.
"And we are a team that has the ability to play like that. But then you've got to learn how to control and play with patience.
"So we're going through a period of that at the moment where I know that we'll get better with that, but we've got to stay at it. It works."
Maguire remained the focal point after the loss to the Warriors, fuming that an appeal for a try by Luciano Leilua was not sent to the bunker in the first half.
But they are also likely to feel the pain of injuries for longer, with key prop Stefano Utoikamanu suffering a badly twisted ankle and Maguire stating it did not look good.
It adds to an extensive injury toll for the club, with Adam Doueihi, Shawn Blore, Tommy Talau, AJ Kepaoa, Ken Maumalo and James Roberts all missing the Warriors loss.
"One thing I'm really proud about in the players is that they don't look to those," Maguire said.
"But it is part of what's going on at the moment. So we've got to acknowledge that."
