Freddie Ljungberg explains why Arsenal will beat Man United and makes Gabriel Jesus claim

Arsenal can extend their lead at the top of the Premier League to four points with a win over Manchester United at Old Trafford this afternoon.

The Gunners have started the season by picking up wins against Crystal Palace, Leicester, Bournemouth, Fulham and Aston Villa. Mikel Arteta has seen five new first team players join his squad with Gabriel Jesus having the biggest impact so far.

The Brazilian striker has registered six goal contributions in just five games since arriving from Manchester City in a £45million deal. Arteta has been hit with a few injury concerns ahead of the clash with United, but club captain Martin Odegaard and no.1 goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale were both spotted arriving with the squad in Manchester.

Arsenal legend Freddie Ljungberg believes that Arsenal may simply have too much firepower for United as they visit Old Trafford this afternoon. Ljungberg told SunSport: “This season Arsenal look really good. Winning five games in a row is a great start for the season.

"They spent the money again this summer and have great players. And as a result, they look great. But I don’t think they have exceeded expectations after buying some really good players.

"The team looks strong, players on players. Now they face a sterner test against United, even if I think they are favourites as they look better than them.

"United have won three games in a row, so it’s going to be a really interesting game. It’s hard to say early in the season but this is Arsenal Football Club and they should always challenge for the title.”

Ljungberg went on to discuss the performances of Jesus since reuniting with Arteta and when asked if the Brazil international can have a similar impact to his predecessors Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Robin van Persie and Thierry Henry, the Arsenal icon admitted it's a tough act for the 25-year-old to follow. Ljungberg continued: “I don’t think we can put Gabriel there yet. But he has the potential and is a very talented young player.

"This is the first time he has a regular spot, he knows he’s going to play week in, week out which allows him to have some confidence in his game. Let’s talk and wait until the end of the season.

“That said, Gabriel Jesus looks good but [no, he’s not] the best striker since Titi because the club has had some nice strikers since Thierry Henry. But Gabriel Jesus is devastating and I am looking forward to seeing him this season."

Ljungberg was also quick to praise Bukayo Saka with the 20-year-old confident of agreeing to a new contract at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners icon added: “He’s a fantastic young man and young player.

"It’s up to Arsenal now to see if they can tie him down on a long-term contract because other clubs think he’s good as well. He’s definitely an amazing player and great for Arsenal to have. Saka will become an amazing player.”
