A court has been told a "most accomplished fraudster" who allegedly forged a degree certificate and pretended to be a doctor was paid more than £1million by the NHS. Zholia Alemi went on trial at Manchester Crown Court on Tuesday after working as a psychiatrist.
She claimed to have qualified at the University of Auckland in New Zealand and denies 20 offences, including forgery and fraud.
Opening the case, Christopher Stables, prosecuting, said: "To put it bluntly, the defendant is a fraud.
