Frasers Group is understood to be planning 200 jobs losses under changes taking place at its main offices at Shirebrook in Derbyshire, and London. The group – which includes Sports Direct, House of Fraser, Flannels, Game, Jack Wills and Evans Cycles – is reported to have started consultations with 20 per cent of its head office staff over the cuts.
A Frasers Group spokesperson told Retail Gazette: “Frasers Group has gone through significant change over the last year, having made a number of strategic acquisitions and accelerated progress against the elevation strategy.
“We are reviewing our team structures to identify efficiencies and streamline processes, and we have entered a consultation period with colleagues affected by these changes.
“The changes will ensure we have the right structure and talent to support continuing profitable growth for Frasers Group.”
Mike Ashley remains the majority shareholder in Frasers Group which is now run by Michael Murray.
Last year the business announced plans to build a new headquarters in the West Midlands.
The company said it wanted to build a new global headquarters campus in Warwickshire which it said could add £300 million in GVA to the region's economy.
It said at the time that plans for the campus included logistics, office and R&D space, a hotel and leisure facilities while a gym, swimming pool and bookable courts and pitches were also proposed and would be open to the public.
