Frankfurt star Daichi Kamada delivers January transfer verdict amid Tottenham and Leeds interest

Despite scoring four goals in their final Premier League game against Leeds before the World Cup, Spurs are in desperate need of quality attacking re-enforcements in the January transfer window.

Lengthy injury lay-offs for Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison, before Son Heung-Min was also placed on the side lines, has seen the goal-scoring burden on Harry Kane intensify as the only fit crucial attacker in Antonio Conte's team.

Lucas Moura and Bryan Gil have featured but for the most-part with minimal effect while the extremely versatile Ivan Perisic has also played as part of a front two alongside Kane, where he notably struck the woodwork twice in the Premier League defeat to Liverpool.

Spurs were able to increase the quality of the first team drastically in the last January window with the acquisitions of Rodrigo Bentancur and Kulusevski and Conte will be hoping that Fabio Paratici can improve the squad in a similar way for the second consecutive season.

After spending over a decade as Chief Football Officer for Juventus, Paratici's links in the footballing world are mostly in Italy, hence the signings of Cristian Romero, Bentancur and Kulusevski from Atalanta and Juventus since his arrival in June 2021

And plenty of names were linked with Spurs from Paratici's homeland in the summer window and ahead of January with Inter's Alessandro Bastoni and Lautaro Martinez, AS Roma's Nicolo Zaniolo, and Napoli's Victor Osimhen all names who play in Serie A on the radar of Spurs.

However, another one of their attacking targets, Daichi Kamada, plays in the Bundesliga with Eintracht Frankfurt and has delivered a huge update on his future with his current deal up next summer.

Speaking to Sport1, Kamada said: “I’m staying in Frankfurt this season. Even if there could be talks with other clubs in winter, I’m not interested in leaving immediately.”

Kamada, who scored at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Champions League for the German club last month, then revealed he has received interest from elsewhere, but had no serious intention of leaving.

“I am much more demanding than you think when it comes to the clubs I would like to switch to,” he added.

“There have been talks and contacts with big clubs for two years."

If Kamada is unable to negotiate a new contract with Frankfurt, he would be available on a free transfer in the summer, but Spurs are seemingly very intent on a January signing to boost their top four chances and reach the latter stages of the Champions League, meaning that following his update Kamada can likely be crossed off the winter wishlist.
