Frank Warren dismisses Dillian Whyte rematch demand with Julia Roberts joke

Frank Warren has dismissed Dillian Whyte's demand for a rematch with Tyson Fury by comparing his request to his teenage dream of dating Julia Roberts.

Fury dismissed Whyte with a brutal sixth-round stoppage at Wembley Stadium to successfully defend his heavyweight title. The 'Gypsy King' landed a huge uppercut before Whyte alleged Fury pushed him to the ground which he claimed made the stoppage illegal and demanded a rematch.

Warren has quickly jumped to claim there is "zero" chance of a rematch and believes Whyte would be better pursuing domestic fights against the likes of Daniel Dubois and Joe Joyce. "When I was younger I was asking to take Julia Roberts out, it never happened," Warren told talkSPORT when asked about Whyte's chances of a rematch. Where do you wanna go with it?

"The only unsatisfactory thing for him was the fact he got stopped, he got knocked out and that is the end of it. Zero zero chance of a rematch. You have to fight your way back into contention and good luck to you doing that. There is some good domestic fights there for him to have like a Daniel Dubois or a Joe Joyce next because they are good yard sticks to see how good these guys are."

Fury dominated from the opening bell which was reflected as such on the judges' scorecards despite Whyte surprisingly being given two rounds by one of the officials. The 'Gypsy King' spotted his opening and detonated a shuddering uppercut which sent Whyte to the canvas after being followed by an alleged push.

Whyte has now claimed that this push caused him to hit his head on the canvas, and that he should have been awarded more time to recover. "The uppercut landed; I was buzzed but as I was trying to gather my senses he full on shoved me and I fell over and hit my head on the canvas which is illegal," he told Sky Sports. "This isn't wrestling, this is boxing, but as usual, they let Fury do what he wants and get away with it.

"I should have been allowed extra time to recover and then carry on fighting. He pushed me and said to the referee, 'Don't to let the fight carry on'. The referee is not doing his job; how can someone... OK, I got caught with a good shot and I was hurt but I didn't go straight down.

"I was trying to get my senses and he fully two-handed pushed me and I fell over and hit my head. It was a terrible job from the referee. I should have had time to recover and have time to go back to my corner. Tyson Fury gets away with a lot of things; he said he wants to retire but i hope he doesn't retire because i want another go."

Footage has since suggested Whyte's head made limited contact with the canvas after his shoulder landed on the floor of the ring first.
