Frank Reich asked about report of being on the hot seat

With every loss, the proverbial hot seat gets even hotter for Carolina Panthers head coach Frank Reich. Nonetheless, it seems like he’s not letting the heat bother him.

Prior to his team’s latest defeat, a 33-10 drubbing at the hands of the Dallas Cowboys, Reich was mentioned by NFL insider Jay Glazer in a not-so-bright light on Sunday’s edition of FOX NFL Sunday. Glazer reported that Reich, “without a doubt,” is currently sitting in the hottest seat in the entire league.

On Monday, he was asked if those rumblings are a distraction.

“No, I’m just focused on getting ready for Tennessee,” Reich replied. “Focused on today, gettin’ into that film, learn from it, learn how we can coach it better, play it better then quickly get your eyes and ears and everything out towards your next opponent.

“We talk about it in there all the time—this is a week-to-week league. And we all know what we sign up for when we get in this business. I’m comfortable with that. Just keep workin’, put your head down and focus on your work. So I don’t think . . . that’s not a distraction.”

Reich, of course, is still in his first season as the head coach of the Panthers. And while he may have a bit of rope left, according to CBS Sports lead NFL insider Jonathan Jones, there may not be much patience remaining for owner David Tepper.

Yesterday’s defeat secured the sixth straight losing season for Carolina, the most in franchise history. All six seasons of those have come under Tepper’s ownership.

Anyway, on to Tennessee!
