Frank McAvennie admits he never expected Josip Juranovic to be a Parkhead success.
But the Celtic legend has happily owned up to eating humble pie after a string of sensational performances from the Croatian.
Right-back Juranovic put the brakes on Rangers star Ryan Kent in Wednesday's 3-0 derby triumph in arguably his best showing to date in green and white.
There's an argument to be made he's Ange Postecoglou's best defender and the £2.5m fee paid to Legia Warsaw in the summer is starting to look like a bargain buy.
Speaking to Football Insider, McAvennie insists it's at the expense of reborn Anthony Ralston, albeit the number 56 did play on Sunday against Motherwell, who he previously slammed for his performance against St Mirren.
He said: "Juranovic, wow, I’ve already said I was impressed with how he did up against Kent the other night.
"I didn’t really think he was that good just after he joined but he has really found his confidence.
"He links up well with Jota as well which is great to see. Ralston can’t really get a look in these days.
"It’s just another sign of the depth we have now and that’s really what I wanted to see.
"Hopefully he keeps playing well and hopefully the team keeps playing well."
