Chelsea are well on their way to recording their worst ever points tally in a Premier League season. The Blues have taken just 39 points from 31 Premier League games, still some way shy of their record low of 50 points - set in the 1995/96 and 2015/16 campaigns.
The way the team is playing at present shows little hope of picking up the 11 points needed from their final seven fixtures to equal that record with Frank Lampard openly criticising the team following their 2-1 defeat against Brighton on Saturday afternoon. Conor Gallagher's deflected strike opened the scoring for the hosts and ended the club's goal drought, but it was another disappointing afternoon for Chelsea fans at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues face Real Madrid in their Champions League quarter-final second leg on Tuesday night as they aim to turn around a 2-0 deficit - which is unlikely. Following that are tough games against Brentford and Arsenal in the Premier League as Lampard's hopes of changing the form at Chelsea still look bleak.

Looking at the west Londoners remaining fixtures this season, talkSPORT pundits Gabby Agbonlahor and Jamie O'Hara have predicted that Chelsea may not win another game this season. Speaking on talkSPORT's GameDay Phone-In after the Blues' defeat to Brighton, Aston Villa icon Agbonlahor said: "We were watching Brighton and we were thinking, who are the home team?
"Brighton had 25 shots today! 26 shots for an away team at Stamford Bridge is unacceptable. I couldn’t name one player that would have got over a 3/10 today. If Lampard can’t get these players motivated, who can?"
Former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara added: "I don’t know if Chelsea will win another game this season, I don’t think they’re going to win another game."
"I don’t think they will either," Agbonlahor said in agreement with O'Hara. The Blues have just seven games left in the Premier League in which they face Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, Brentford, Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth and Newcastle.
Two of those teams are vying for the Premier League title, whilst Forest and Bournemouth are fighting for their safety in the English top-flight. United and Newcastle are both in contention for a top four spot, whilst the Bees have proven they are one of the most difficult teams to play this term - leaving Chelsea with a tough task if they are to pick up a win under Lampard.
