Everton fans gathered outside the club’s Finch Farm training base to give the first-team coach a rousing send off ahead of Sunday’s crucial Premier League fixture at Leicester City - with manager Frank Lampard videoed fist-bumping supporters through a gap in the window.
Evertonians organised a pre-match welcome for Lampard's side when their bus pulled up outside of Goodison Park before they played Chelsea last Sunday. And their efforts helped to create a partisan atmosphere inside the ground as last season’s European champions were defeated 1-0 thanks to a goal from Richarlison.
Following the success of that initiative, a group of Evertonians called on their fellow supporters to journey out to Finch Farm today – the training ground is located on the edge of Halewood, some 10 miles from Liverpool city centre – and cheer the players as they began their 114-mile journey to the East Midlands.

Hundreds of fans, complete with flags and pyrotechnics, sang Blues terrace anthems and created a boisterous mood as they packed the quiet country lane while the coach rolled out en route to the motorway.
Everton, who have spent the most seasons in English top flight football of any club – currently 119 – are in danger of suffering their first relegation since 1951 as they find themselves in the drop zone with just five matches left to play. But fans remain determined to show the players how much the Blues mean to them while also attempting to boost the morale of their heroes on the pitch, who have taken 10 points from their last 12 on offer at home but haven't won away in the Premier League since August.
