Frank Lampard ex-teammate names 'better' option for Everton to appoint

Trevor Sinclair has urged Everton to appoint Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper as manager, rather than former team mate Frank Lampard.

The Championship side were staring at relegation before Cooper took over and now they are in with a real chance of play-off place.

With the role at Goodison Park being vacant, Lampard is set to hold more talks with Everton about replacing Farhad Moshiri.

However, Sinclair - who played alongside Lampard at West Ham United - thinks there are better options than Lampard for the Everton role - like Cooper.

“He (Lampard) is a risk because he is a young manager,” said Sinclair to TalkSport. “And he has only been at two clubs.

“I would say someone like a Steve Cooper, who is doing really well at Nottingham Forest. I think he is doing exceptionally well there.

“When he went in. They were second from bottom and he has done an absolutely superb job there.

“There are other candidates that could steady that ship maybe better than Frank (Lampard).”
