Lampard on Gordon discipline
Frank Lampard admits he has spoken with Anthony Gordon about his disciplinary issues with the Everton winger suspended for this weekend's trip to Tottenham Hotspur.
The 21-year-old picked up his fifth booking of the season for a reckless challenge on Bruno Fernandes in last Sunday's 2-1 defeat at home to Manchester United, meaning he will serve a one-match ban just nine games into the new season. He is one of just four players in the league to have received the ban so far.
And Lampard, speaking to the media ahead of Sunday's trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, admitted he has spoken to the Toffees star about maintaining his discipline.
"Yeah, it’s something to analyse and I’ve had those conversations with Anthony," The Blues boss said. “I don’t think it’s worth hanging on too much that he’s taken on too many bookings, I’m more worried about his whole game and just working with him on that front and the booking thing has been a small part of that too. I don’t want to lose him for a game, that’s the reality of it."
Patterson on road to recovery
Nathan Patterson has been pictured continuing his rehabilitation from the ankle injury picked up on international duty with Scotland.
The Everton right-back picked up the problem during a Nations League game with Ukraine in September, cutting a dejected figure as he was forced off before the half-four mark. And after meetings first with his club's medical staff and then a specialist in London, it was confirmed he would be out for up to five weeks.
But now the 20-year-old has been spotted back in training, with Lampard confirming the Scot will look to get back to playing 'in two to three weeks'. Patterson had played every minute of Premier League football before his injury during the break.
Fellow Blues defenders Mason Holgate and Ben Godfrey were also looking good, as was Yerry Mina - although Lampard confirmed that between the training pictures and today, his Colombian defender has suffered a fresh set back with what the boss described as a 'small calf injury'.
