Chelsea icon Frank Lampard is primed and ready to answer a Stamford Bridge SOS and return as the club's manager on a caretaker basis.
The Blues hero previously spent 18 months in charge between 2019 and 2021 before he paid with his job amid a sticky run of results with fans still on the outside looking amid the pandemic. Lampard followed up his chastening stint in West London with an ill-fated spell at Everton which also resulted in him receiving his marching orders earlier this season.
And now multiple reports state Lampard is poised to become the caretaker boss until the end of the season with both Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique set to wait things out with both is discussions with Stamford Bridge hierarchy since Graham Potter was axed on Saturday. It will be an emotional return for a club legend who was in attendance for Tuesday's drab 0-0 draw with Liverpool highlighted the many failings of the Todd Boehly regime so far.
