There was brief a spell within the summer haze of 2021 when Rafael Benitez looked to have cracked it at Everton.
A strong start to the season was capped off before the international break in October, when an injury-ravaged Toffees outfit went to Old Trafford and dug out a 1-1 draw with Manchester United.
The result pushed Everton into fourth in the Premier League table and there was a feeling foundations were being established.
