Frank Lampard and Everton stars send classy message to 'incredible' Lionesses for Euro 2022 win

Everton manager Frank Lampard and a couple of his English players have sent their congratulations to the England women’s team after last night’s European Championship win.

The Lionesses ended a home tournament with the ultimate glory, beating Germany at Wembley thanks to Chloe Kelly’s extra-time winner. The final whistle brought with it jubilant scenes up and down the country, with Sarina Wiegman’s team inspiring the nation and bringing women’s football to the forefront.

Last night’s glory inspired congratulations from a host of those involved in the men’s game, and Lampard sent his heartfelt message to the Lionesses earlier today along with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Ben Godfrey.

“Huge congratulations to the Lionesses. An incredible achievement from everybody involved,” The Toffees boss said. “All the players, all the squad, everybody working together and the amazing coach, she’s an absolute class act.

“Congratulations and well done. We’re all very proud and very inspired to see what you’ve achieved to enjoy, thank you.”

Everton striker Calvert-Lewin said: “Congratulations Lionesses! Massive, massive achievement. You’re all an inspiration to me and everyone else in the country, so a massive well done.”

Godfrey added: “Congratulations Lionesses on bringing it home. We’re all so proud of you, it’s a great achievement so well done.”

The coverage of women’s football is as high as it has ever been in England following on from last night’s glory, and Everton women are encouraging fans to follow their 2022/2023 Women’s Super League campaign.

The Blues kick off their campaign on Sunday, September 11 against Leicester City Walton Hall Park, with tickets on sale for just £8 for adults and £4 for children and over-65s.
