Francis Ngannou issues clearest Tyson Fury message yet amid Anthony Joshua speculation

UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou has reaffirmed his desire of wanting to box Tyson Fury.

The world record holder for the most powerful punch, Ngannou is currently dominating the heavyweight division in the UFC - with six consecutive wins.

Five of those have come by way of an early knockout with his simply outrageous power.

This past weekend, Ngannou had been the underdog when he faced undefeated French challenger Ciryl Gane but he was able to overcome the difficult opponent and win in the octagon.

The Cameroonian did not start fighting until the age of 26 - making an incredibly quick impression in the UFC as he would win his first six fights.

Ngannou has made his intentions clear of wanting to box before he retires and has the perfect opportunity to do so as he is now officially a free agent.

This week he confirmed that he wants Fury as soon as possible.

Speaking to Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour Show, he said: "Listen Tyson Fury and I, we have been going back and forth for two years now and I do believe that this fight will happen.

"We thought this would be something that the UFC can make it big because this is an opportunity that I have and they could have got involved and make it happen.

"But it seems like it's not their concern. Regarding what is going on, it doesn't look like they care about [it]."

Ngannou's comments come amid speculation Anthony Joshua could step aside from his rematch against Oleksandr Usyk and allow Fur to face the Ukranian in a unification bout instead.

Joshua would reportedly be willing to accept a £15million offer for that to happen.

Recent reports suggest that Ngannou made less than £1million in his recent victory over Gane - a number dwarfed by the earnings of the likes of Fury and Deontay Wilder in their last fight.

He wouldn't be the first MMA fighter to switch to boxing, highlighting the lack of pay in the UFC as a significant reason.
