His self-financed epic, 'Megalopolis,' has been confirmed to premiere at the 77th Cannes Film Festival on May 17. The film will be screened in competition, making Coppola eligible for another shot at the coveted Palme d'Or.
'Megalopolis' has been a passion project for Coppola, who independently financed the film with a reported budget of $120 million. The movie, which he has been developing since the early 1980s, explores the theme of rebuilding a metropolis and features a star-studded cast including Adam Driver, Giancarlo Esposito, Jon Voight, Laurence Fishburne, and more.
