French authorities reported more than 5,000 police interpellations between Monday, 28 September, and Friday, 2 October 2026, as secondary school protests spread across the country. A National Police spokesperson separately said more than 600 police officers and gendarmes had been injured since the movement began.
Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez said 1,747 people were interpellated on Friday alone, bringing the cumulative total since Monday above 5,000. He said approximately 85% of those interpellated were minors and most of them were lycée pupils.
