France, Spain and Turkey travel advice updated for holidaymakers heading abroad

Those planning to jet off to France, Spain or Turkey should make sure that they are up to date with the latest travel advice.

All three countries have received updated official travel guidance over the past few weeks. The new information has been issued by the UK Foreign Office.

The fresh advice includes coronavirus updates as well as safety and security guidance following the recent earthquake in Turkey and Syria, reports the Echo.

Here is everything you need to know about recent travel updates, so that you can have a safe and stress-free holiday.

In August 2022, all Covid-19 travel restrictions for people heading to France were lifted. The one Covid related rule for those in the country which remained was the need to self-isolate if you tested positive for the virus.

Since February 1 that rule has been lifted, meaning that you can holiday without worrying about extra charges should you contract the virus.

In new travel guidance to British nationals, the Foreign Office said: "If you test positive, or have been in contact with someone who has tested positive, the French authorities also recommend you follow basic hygiene rules, take a test and avoid contact with vulnerable people.

Spain

The UK Foreign Office has updated its Covid advice for Brits heading to Spain, after the country lifted the requirement to wear masks on public transport. Masks will still be obligatory in health centres, chemists, dental clinics and old people's homes, however.

The country remains quite safe in coronavirus terms however.

Turkey

Brits heading on Turkey holidays in the coming weeks have been urged to contact their airlines and be aware of local advice. This comes after devastating earthquakes struck Turkey and Syria last week.

The UK's Foreign Office has updated its travel advice for those planning trips to the country, but it has not advised against travel in general.

"If you’re in the Gaziantep, Kahramanmaras or neighbouring provinces and it is safe to do so, contact your friends and family to tell them you are safe," the advice continued.

It's important to note that travel advice can change quickly, so keep up-to-date Foreign Office Turkey advice before booking or going abroad.
