After 20-year-old Sudanese migrant Yasser died trying to climb onto a truck crossing the Channel to Britain, he was laid to rest far from his home country in a cemetery in northern France.

"He was so young," said French aid worker Mariam Guerey of his death in 2021.

New York has just declared a state of emergency as measles cases continue to rise. So far this year, the US has recorded 3,887 cases of measles, the highest annual total since 1991. That is about 70% more cases than were recorded during the whole of 2025.
