France has banned unsolicited telemarketing calls under a new law to protect consumers and shield vulnerable people from fraudulent commercial practices. Individuals who make illegal calls can be fined up to €75,000 per call once the new law comes into effect on Tuesday, 11 August.

The law, approved by parliament last year and backed by President Emmanuel Macron's government, bans unsolicited telemarketing calls in a bid to strengthen consumer protection
