Emergency doctors at one of Paris's biggest hospitals warned on Friday that wards had become dangerously overcrowded after a week of soaring temperatures, as authorities restricted public alcohol consumption, organisers postponed the annual Pride march and €130 million was pledged to help schools adapt to climate change.
Emergency services at Paris's Hôpital européen Georges Pompidou – one of the capital's largest hospitals – were under "extremely serious" pressure after a week of exceptionally hot weather, its head of emergency medicine Philippe Juvin said on Friday.
