Summer solstice heatwave grips much of Europe as France restricts alcohol consumption

A heatwave continues to grip much of western Europe on Sunday, with high temperatures expected to persist well into next week.

In France, authorities have banned the consumption of alcohol at the annual Fête de la Musique (Music Day) festival in Paris, where temperatures are expected to reach 35° on Sunday. Parts of southern France and Spain are set to touch 40°C.
