FPL tips: Luton and Bournemouth targets for Double Gameweek 28

Next Wednesday, on a Champions League night, the rearranged Bournemouth vs Luton encounter will take place, having been abandoned in December.

That means Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers have a mini-Double Gameweek 28 to handle, with the Cherries first hosting Sheffield United while the Hatters visit Crystal Palace.

Complicating matters is Bournemouth having nicer-looking fixtures but, unlike Luton, then being absent in Blank Gameweek 29. So managers must consider their own chip strategy when deciding to purchase.

With this in mind, here is a collection of transfer targets suggested by Fantasy Football Scout.

Dominic Solanke (£7.1m)

Firstly, a few words for the most obvious name – someone in 55 per cent of the top 500k squads.

Solanke ended 2023 with a brilliant run of eight goals in seven matches, plus one in the original Luton meeting that doesn’t count.

Early 2024 has been quieter but, after playing through the knee pain that made FPL managers nervous before Gameweek 27, he’s the logical captaincy choice this time. Some will even use a Triple Captain chip on him.

Illia Zabarnyi (£4.4m)

Similarly, Bournemouth registered four clean sheets in that seven-match winter run. But, in true FPL style, over 215k bought centre-back Marcos Senesi (£4.6m) for last Sunday’s trip to Burnley, only to see him injured 12 minutes into the successful shut out.

Therefore Zabarnyi is the next-best defender. He has played every minute of this campaign but hasn’t yet scored, despite accumulating more shots inside the box (six) than three-goal Senesi. Goalkeeper Neto (£4.6m) is another good way to cover their backline.

Alfie Doughty (£4.7m)

As for Luton, clean sheets are even rarer but defender Doughty’s appeal comes from his wing-back threat. The weekend assist versus Aston Villa puts him on eight attacking returns from the last 12 outings.

The FPL defender with the most penalty area touches (40) since Gameweek 11, this season’s 230 crosses are ahead of other Premier League players.

Furthermore, owning Doughty for Gameweeks 28 and 29 means having him on three occasions during a period where 11 teams feature just once.

Carlton Morris (£5.1m)

Volleying home a Doughty free-kick on Saturday was cheap frontman Morris. He’s now on five goals and four assists over the last nine matches, which has pushed him up to fifth in the forward rankings.

Not only is he a penalty-taker who doesn’t blank in Gameweek 29, but Morris has either scored or assisted 14 of the 24 Luton goals he’s been on the pitch for (58.3 per cent).
