FPL Pingreen shares his FPL Week 12 tips with a keen eye on Manchester United’s run of fixtures under new manager Ruben Amorim.
Hello FPL fans! My name is Pingreen, and I’m back to share my top picks for Gameweek 12 and beyond, right here on SportsCasting.
I finished 700th in the world in 2022/23 and ranked 1,330th last season, so be sure to take my advice seriously.
I hope you all had a better international break than David Coote. You’ll be pleased to hear there isn’t another one until March – so now is the time to crack on and get your season back on track.
FPL Pingreen’s Week 12 Tips
Captain Pick
Mohamed Salah – £12.9m – SOU (A)
Mohamed Salah wasn’t with the Egypt squad over the International Break due to concerns over the condition of the pitches – meaning he should be fresh and ready to terrorise the Saints’ defence on Sunday.
The Liverpool talisman is in incredible form, scoring a whopping 45 points in his last 4 Premier League outings. That’s 30 more points than Erling Haaland has netted in the same period.
Facing a Southampton side who are giving up over 2 xGC (expected Goals Conceded) per 90 minutes this season – the Egyptian is the standout captain choice this Gameweek.
Defender
Lucas Digne – £4.7m – CRY (H)
Lucas Digne was once an incredibly popular FPL asset when playing for Everton, mainly due to his attacking threat. That attacking threat is just as relevant now as it ever was, with the fullback averaging 0.31 xGI (expected Goal Involvement) per 90 this season. That’s higher than any other defender in the league, Trent Alexander-Arnold included.
A clean sheet could also be on the cards for Villa this weekend – with their opponents Crystal Palace having looked toothless in attack this season. They’ve only managed to put the ball in the net on 7 occasions, the joint lowest in the league.
Midfielder
Bruno Fernandes – £8.4m – IPS (A)
Bruno Fernandes has been the subject of many FPL debates this year. Analytical managers have lauded him as a great asset due to his underlying numbers, and everyone else laughed at them as he blanked more often than not earlier in the season. Well, who’s laughing now?
The midfielder finally repaid those who put their faith in him with 27 points over his last 2 appearances. Both of those games were managed by interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy after Erik ten Hag was finally relieved of his duties, and there’s no reason to believe Ruben Amorim won’t also be able to get the best out of him as well.
With a tasty home fixture against Ipswich, who have conceded the highest xGC in the league this season, he’s a fantastic option this Gameweek.
Striker
Nicolas Jackson – £7.9m – LEI (A)
After being mocked for poor finishing last year, Nicolas Jackson has come into his own this Premier League season, winning the respect of FPL and football fans alike.
The Chelsea forward has 9 goal contributions in 11 starts – only trailing Salah, Palmer, and Saka in that category. His 0.79 xGI per 90 is equally as impressive, for those of you more inclined to indulge in the underlying numbers.
Coming up against a struggling Leicester side, he’s clearly a great option for your team this weekend. But more importantly, he’s also a great option in the long run, with Chelsea only facing one of the traditional “big 6” in their next 11 games.
