Foxconn vendor Agile Robots acquires majority stake in XNG Automation to scale up local production

Foxconn vendor and AI robotics company Agile Robots has acquired a majority stake in Bengaluru-based XNG Automation to expand local production.

Agile Robots supplies automation solutions to companies like Foxconn and Tata Electronics in India.

Both of these companies are engaged in the production of the Apple iPhone.

"We have acquired a majority stake in Bengaluru-based XNG Automation to expand our local production of automation solutions," Agile India managing director Saravanan Solaiappan said without sharing financial details of the deal.

He said that XNG Automation matches the company's requirement for immediately scaling up local production.

XNG has around 200 employees and specialises in factory and intralogistics automation.

"The company has deep expertise in system integration and machine vision in industries including consumer electronics, automotive, and electric vehicles. It has worked with clients including Bosch and Toyota," Agile Robots said in a statement.

Agile Robots Executive Director, Rory Sexton, said that the deal will enable the company to access and serve more customers.

"Combining our advanced robotic hardware and AI software with XNG's deep integration expertise means we can better support Indian manufacturing's transition towards intelligent, AI-enabled production," he said.

Founded in 2018 as a spin-off from the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Munich, and with deep roots in German mechanical engineering, Agile Robots has installed over 20,000 robotics solutions worldwide in sectors including consumer electronics and automotive.

In 2024, Agile Robots opened a high-tech production facility in Chennai and a regional headquarters in Bengaluru. PTI
