Fox Sports Host Says Aaron Rodgers Vetoed Trade to Patriots

Imagine the endless possibilities for the Patriots offense if Bill Belichick had a quarterback like Aaron Rodgers.

While that statement is merely wishful thinking at this point, longtime WFAN media personality Craig Carton said that New England reportedly made an offer to Green Bay to acquire the four-time MVP. However, on The Carton Show on Thursday, Carton shared that Rodgers turned down the offer because of his desire to play in the Big Apple.

“When Aaron Rodgers heard it [the Patriots’ offer], his agent said no we ain’t playing for New England, we want to be a Jet,” Carton said

According to Carton, Rodgers made a great choice in rejecting a Belichick-Rodgers union.

“Those snakes in the grass in New England can never be trusted,” Carton said. “… I want to thank my man Aaron Rodgers for recognizing you don’t go play for Satan.”

Since Tom Brady left New England following the 2019 season, the Patriots have registered a 25–25 record, averaging just 23 points per game while merely sitting a tier above the bottom fourth of teams in passing yards across the league. Cam Newton served as New England’s starting quarterback in the ’20 campaign. That season, the Patriots finished ranked No. 30 in passing yards per game.

Mac Jones took over under center the following year and New England’s passing yards per game improved to 14th during the 2021 season. The team then dropped seven spots by the end of the ’22 campaign in part due to the offensive inefficiency and dysfunction between Patriots quarterback coach Joe Judge and former offensive play-caller Matt Patricia.

While the Patriots failed to land Rodgers, Belichick’s squad will face the former Packers quarterback at least twice during the 2023 regular season in what surely will be fierce AFC East battles. Currently, Rodgers is 2–2 against the Patriots in his NFL career.
