A four-year-old boy has died after being hit by a car in Sydney’s west.

Emergency services were called to a Glossop Street in North St Marys just after noon on Monday after receiving reports a pedestrian had been hit by a car.

A police statement said officers attached to Nepean police area command arrived to find a four-year-old boy had been hit by a Ford sedan.

New South Wales ambulance paramedics attempted to treat the boy, but he died a short time later en route to hospital.

The male driver was taken to Nepean hospital for mandatory testing.

A crime scene was established and police have begun an investigation into the incident.

Police have appealed to anyone with dashcam footage, CCTV or information about the incident to contact Nepean police or Crime Stoppers.
