Cardiff City's survival task just got that little bit tougher.
In a team which has struggled for goals all season, having scored just 25 goals in 33 games, the news that Callum Robinson is now out for the next month or so is a major blow.
But, as the old adage goes, as one door closes, another swings open. If Cardiff are to continue on this wave of positivity, off the back of two wins in a row, other players now have to step up and take their chances.
"With the two new signings, Sory Kaba and Connor Wickham, it's more options for me," Lamouchi said on Thursday morning.
"But with this loss for a couple of games, with Callum Robinson, will be a problem for us. We need to adapt and to find a solution to our problem."
The problem is one which has belied a lot of good play this season. Cardiff have rarely been played off the park, they have given as good as they have got in most instances, but their ability to find the back of the net has been lacking.
Robinson is the club's top scorer, with seven goals but also six assists this season, while others have chipped in with the odd goal here and there. But they've simply not been ruthless enough.
In fact, Lamouchi was rather candid in his assessment of Cardiff's ability to take chances.
"We are the worst attack in the league, so I cannot accept that. I know my players, I know my offensive players, they have the quality to score and make the difference," the manager added.
"But this is our reality. We are the worst attack in this league. For me it's unacceptable. We have to work on that."
So, how will Lamouchi fill the pretty sizeable void left by Robinson's absence? Well, there a few ways he could look to go about it.
Another midfielder
All things considered, this is the likeliest option. Particularly for the weekend game against Norwich City.
If we rewind to a week ago, Robinson was left on the bench for the win over Birmingham City, coming on later to net the second goal and seal the win.
Away from home again, at a tricky ground like Carrow Road, it's hard to see past this being the option again for Lamouchi.
Romaine Sawyers and Ryan Wintle appear nailed-on starters, with the final midfield spot likely to be handed to one of Joe Ralls or Andy Rinomhota.
Ralls has improved under Lamouchi, while Rinomhota put in a beast of a performance against Blues during that 2-0 win last week. Expect this to be the call, with more industry needed against top opposition.
The playmaker
The more daring option and one which could likely be the ploy in the upcoming home games against Bristol City and West Brom in the coming weeks.
Again, there appears to be three options for this spot. Sheyi Ojo and Jaden Philogene have both been deployed as wing-backs in recent weeks and have impressed. However, with Mahlon Romeo and Callum O'Dowda the preferred options there, one of Ojo or Philogene could fill the void.
Alternatively, there is Rubin Colwill. The position is designed for him and his qualities, but save 15 minutes off the bench against Luton Town, he hasn't been seen in a City shirt under Lamouchi.
It seems a stretch that he would leapfrog Ojo and Philogene, if this is the system Lamouchi chooses, but perhaps the manager might see something in training that prompts him to opt for the precocious playmaker. Seems unlikely at this stage, though.
The speed merchants
This is where Mark Harris and Isaak Davies might come into the thinking. Again, though, more likely to be an option at Cardiff City Stadium than at away games.
Also, the drawback with this is that, with Kaba and Kion Etete giving City good grounding further up the pitch, how do you fit just one pacey winger alongside them or in behind them?
Lamouchi would likely have to drop one of Kaba or Etete and play two wingers either side of them. With the system having worked well with two big men up top, it seems unlikely he will change tack drastically in the coming weeks.
Of the youngsters Davies, Harris and Colwill, Lamouchi said: "They are training with us and training good.
"They are absolutely good boys, with potential. If we can use them, we will do it. Any player who is able to help the team get maximum points deserves to play."
Another big man
The nuclear option. It seems pretty unthinkable, but can you imagine a forward line of Kaba, Etete and Wickham? Now, that would be tough to defend against!
Imagine the options available to City at set-piece time! Three utter brutes, along with Mark McGuinness and Cedric Kipre, all scrambling for the ball and causing mayhem in the opposition's box.
There are merits to it, especially if Cardiff are hellbent on getting the ball up the field, averting risk and playing closer to the opponent's goal.
But the lack of mobility in having those three up front would likely be detrimental to City's midfield. Well, from the off at least. Which is why the extra midfielder seems the likeliest option.
If the game wears on, there is no problem having three of them on the pitch at the same time, especially if Cardiff are chasing the tie.
Food for thought, at least, and you'd think Wickham is now champing at the bit for his first start following two outings from the bench so far for the Bluebirds.
