Spurs U23s drew 1-1 to Blackburn Rovers U23s at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Monday night, keeping the Lilywhites third in the Premier League 2 table.
Jack Clarke found the back of the net in the 16th minute before Connor McBride got the equalising goal just after the hour mark and the Tottenham youngsters couldn't find an equaliser.
After the 90 minutes was up, a scuffle between the two sides ended in a couple of red cards, putting a sour end to the game.
Despite the draw, some of the Spurs starlets still produced a solid display and may have got themselves one step closer to a loan move during this transfer window.
Kion Etete spent the first half of the season on loan at Northampton but after training with Cheltenham Town last week, he has now made the move to the League One side, until the end of the season.
Dilan Markanday has caught the eye of a lot of Spurs fans and has scored 12 goals and registered five assists in the Premier League 2 so far this season. However, football.london understand that the 20-year-old is close to making a permanent move to the first team of Monday's opponents and he wasn't included in the U23 squad in the latest tie.
With a couple of weeks of the January window still left open for business, football.london takes a look at the four players who may have earned themselves a loan move after their performance against Blackburn Rovers U23s.
J'Neil Bennett
In December, Bennett returned from his loan spell at Crewe Alexandra after suffering an ankle injury, with the ligament damage ruling him out for up to 12 weeks.
David Artell, Crewe manager, described his thoughts on the youngster, when the move first happened: "He is an exciting player and a good addition to the squad."
The 20-year-old played just over 20 minutes at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Monday and has been in and out of the Spurs U23 Premier League 2 matchday squad since his return.
Bennett made a couple of good runs down the left flank and tried to make an impact in attack. However, another loan move may be what he needs to build his match fitness back up and continue his development.
Jack Clarke
After deciding to stay in N17 last summer, despite interest from other clubs, Clarke has made 14 Premier League 2 appearances so far, scoring three goals and registering four assists.
The 21-year-old was arguably one of Tottenham's best players against Blackburn, scoring their only goal of the game, one which came from largely his own doing.
There were a number of occasions where Clarke received the ball in the middle of the field and dribbled with it into the attacking half of the pitch.
The decision to remain at Spurs last summer is likely to have been because he wanted to impress and try to break into the first team.
However, it has only materialised in the very first game in the Europa Conference League so far.
With him already impressing for the U23s, now could be a great opportunity to take a loan move to get regular first team football and then hopefully return an even better player.
Harvey White
White has been a key player for the Tottenham academy team and the captain has already scored five goals and registered six assists so far this season.
In the game against Blackburn, the 20-year-old worked hard to control the middle of the field and be a communicative leader for the rest of his teammates.
For the second half of last season, White did well during his loan spell at League One's Portsmouth but has now slotted straight back into Wayne Burnett's side.
Kenny Jackett, who managed White during some of his time at Pompey, praised the midfielder soon after his arrival.
"He’s got the balance in terms of his left foot. I do feel at times that certain teams have played through us a little bit too easily and we have needed to narrow up in midfield," Jackett said.
"To do that, the principles of defending are to force people wide and then work and close. At times, we have been slightly too open and too easy to play through.
"For Harvey as an individual, he is capable of playing that position. He delivers well with his left foot as well which is good. He delivers a good set-piece delivery which is a good option for us," the now Leyton Orient boss added.
The midfielder has also featured on the bench for the Tottenham first team on five occasions this campaign.
On Monday night, White worked hard at both ends of the field and highlighted why he is a key player for the Spurs U23 side. However, he may benefit from another loan move to continue his development and gain more first team football.
Alfie Devine
Another bright spark in the academy squad is 17-year-old Devine, who is continuing to make a great impact in the middle of the field for the U23s.
The youngster has already scored six goals and registered two assists in his ten Premier League 2 appearances so far this season, highlighting his great potential.
On Monday night Devine showed quick movement, both on and off the ball. He played some good passes out wide and helped to add some creativity to his side.
The teenager is yet another who could benefit from a loan move, although he may decide to stay in N17 for a bit longer, given his young age.
All four of these players have shown great potential for the U23s and indicate reasons why they deserve to get loan moves.
It would be great for some of the youngsters to get these moves during this January transfer window, but some may remain in the capital until at least the end of the season.
Either way, they will hopefully continue their development, gain more experience and eventually become vital first team Tottenham players.
