Four teenagers have been rushed to hospital following a car crash on a major Scots road.
The crash took place on the A944 between Alford and Whitehouse Road, Aberdeenshire at around 10pm on Tuesday, June 14.
It's understood that there were two police vehicles, two fire and rescue vehicles, three ambulances and a helicopter at the scene.
Witnesses said that the car, which is now known to be a Vauxhall Corsa, was overturned at the location with smoke bellowing from it.
They added that some of the teenagers were lying on the grass on the side of the road with what appeared to be serious injuries.
Police have confirmed that a 17-year-old male passenger was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by air ambulance.
Three other male passengers, aged 16, 17 and 17, were also taken to the same hospital via road ambulance following the collision.
The two 17-year-olds were later discharged and the conditions of the other two individuals are currently unknown.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 10pm on Tuesday, 14 June, police were called to a report of a road crash involving a Vauxhall Corsa on the A944, Alford to Whitehouse Road.
"Officers attended and a 17-year-old male passenger was taken by air ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
"Three other male passengers aged 16, 17 and 17 years were taken by ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and two of them (17 yrs) were later discharged.
"Enquiries into the cause of the crash are continuing."
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 10.01pm on Tuesday 14 June to reports of a single vehicle road traffic collision on the A944 at Alford, Aberdeenshire.
“Operations control immediately mobilised two appliances to the location.
"Four people were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by the Scottish Ambulance Service, three by road and one by air.
“Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”
